Autonomy

Mar 17, 2019    Pastor Allen Coleman    2 Corinthians 10:3-7; Judges 17:6

In our examination of personal comprehensive strongholds, we examine first the stronghold of autonomy, or the unwillingness to be ruled by any authority other than self. In a church community context, this stronghold can lead us to neglect gathering, serving, and giving; while this lack of engagement may feel rewarding in the short term, eventually this isolation catches up to us, to our detriment and to the detriment of the body. We also examined how to defeat autonomy: our enemy desired autonomy and desires to lead others the same way, but our triune, communal God has purchased life, freedom, and relationship for those who call Christ Lord.
