Our Calling To The Church Is Part of Revival

During the first century, the fourth largest city in the known world is Ephesus. Ephesus is a thriving west coast metropolis in Asia Minor with an established political, commericial and religious landscape. It is one of the most modern and influential places in the whole of the Roman empire. It, therefore, seemed like an impossible place for the Apostle Paul to plant a viable church, which would threaten the region’s thriving worldview. Yet, amidst enormous opposition from all sides, and because of the grace of God, that is exactly what Paul managed to do.

However, if the church was going to continue to thrive and mature in such a hostile region, it would need a plan to ensure both its vitality and durability. Nearly a decade after planting the church, Paul reveals such a plan, Jesus’ plan, as part of his Ephesians letter.

Today, we are in desperate need of a similar plan. We once again find ourselves at the epicenter of modernity and influence in the coastal region of Marin County. With vitality and durability threatened, we turn to the timeless and timely instructions of Jesus for help. His surprisingly simply plan for a strong church goes beyond just survival, but…
