
“Yet even now,” declares the Lord,
“return to me with all your heart,
with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning;
and rend your hearts and not your garments.”
Return to the Lord your God,
for he is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love;
and he relents over disaster.
The season of Lent is one of "bright sadness" - a time when we focus intently on turning back to the Lord in all things. We do so, aware that our sin separates us from God, but hopeful in the merciful character of God and the bridge of Christ back to our Heavenly Father.
