Founded On The Rock

October 1, 2017 Preacher: Andrew Clark Series: Stand-alone

Topic: Obedience Scripture: Matthew 7:24–7:27

Each one of us builds our life upon something, a foundation we believe will hold us up on the worst of days. In this concluding portion of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus warns the listening crowd that those who hear his words and actually follow them will be building upon a firm foundation. Conversely, those who are hearers only and unwilling to apply his teachings are building upon sand, which will wash away when the storms of life rage. Our obedience to our Lord requires divine help, community support, and is covered in God’s grace and forgiveness, but we as followers of Christ must also be diligent and eager to live up to that very name, living lives of courageous obedience and love, honoring our Savior with the fruits of our faith.
