Hate In The Speech
The United States is the last holdout in Western Democracies in our stance on Hate Speech. Johnathan Rauch, the advocate for same sex marriage argues that not regulating “hate speech” benefits us all. He argues from a classical liberal perspective that an open society which allows all voices and promotes public debate will ultimately allow the truth to win out. How can Christians articulate the truth of the scripture in the marktplace of ideas, and is this classic liberal position still in operation today or is the tide turning toward regulation? Also John Macarthur and Mark Driscoll have beef over the strange fire conference. We explore the value of dialogue and debate in the context of the church and how we can speak the truth in love.
