Recompense of the Lamb

3

It's been more than 15 years since I last attempted anything that even resembles poetry. However, my son Tyler has been in the hospital a lot recently due to a hard recovery from surgery. As I've watched him suffer in his fragile body, the Lord gave me a startling reminder that Tyler will be free from his imperfect prison one day. Jesus is the key to this promise for all of us. I attempted to capture the imagery that followed in this poem, which I read on Sunday, though I am far from anything that bears semblance to a poet:

"Recompense of the Lamb"

Haste the day, my little lamb

When this cage shant be your home

And the slumbering lion, bound inside

At last be free to roam

Your muffled roar and tempered stride

Oft make you simple prey

But when the golden key is turned

Recompense to thee be made

Little lamb, have no fear

Soon shall come the morn

For when the Morning Star gives light

Oh, the lion we will adorn

Take heart, dear lamb, lest we forget

That He who can assuage

Was too a Lion, born a Lamb

As to throw-wide our cage

Allen...this poetry was a beautiful expression of your heart felt love for Tyler which had to be inspired by the Lord and your love of Him. Thank you so much for sharing and demonstrating His will.

What a wonderful poem for a precious gift. You are truelly blessed. It's my great pleasure to have the Lord lead me to be a member of your flock!
